Today marked a powerful step forward in our collective mission to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Sheema District. Under our ongoing project, we convened a multi-sectoral stakeholder meeting at the Sheema District Local Government Headquarters—an essential forum for dialogue, learning, and partnership-building.
The gathering brought together representatives from local government departments, community leaders, health workers, law enforcement, civil society organizations, and survivor support networks. United by a common goal, participants shared frontline experiences, exchanged insights, and openly discussed the challenges they face in addressing GBV at the community level.
More than just a monitoring activity, the meeting served as a space for mutual appreciation and understanding. Stakeholders acknowledged each other’s critical roles—from legal aid providers to grassroots educators—and emphasized the need for coordinated, survivor-centered responses.
Key themes that emerged
- The importance of timely reporting and case management
- Strengthening referral pathways across sectors
- Breaking cultural stigmas through community engagement
- The need for sustained resources and training
When we listen to each other, we don’t just solve problems—we build trust. And trust is the foundation of real change.
How do we tackle the crisis?
This meeting reaffirms our belief that ending GBV requires collaboration, compassion, and continuous learning. We’re inspired by the commitment shown today and remain dedicated to supporting Sheema District’s journey toward a safer, more equitable future for all.
